About this event

Meet Three Legends of the British Cheese-making scene and taste their stunning cheeses

Come down and meet Claire Burt of Burt’s Cheese at their new premises at Bidlea Dairy in Holmes Chapel. Claire will be joined by two celebrated cheesemakers: HS Bourne and Moyden’s Cheese who will be ready to welcome you with plenty of cheese to taste and many tales to be told.

The Brown family, who have been dairy farmers at Bidlea for over 60 years, will be showcasing their scrummy ice-cream, with promises of a limited edition flavour, available exclusively for the Big Cheese Weekender.

About The Cheesemakers

Burt’s Cheese started out life in January 2009 as a kitchen table hobby for Claire Burt. But after winning Gold for her Burt’s Blue Cheese at the International Cheese Show – Nantwich 2010, she decided to pursue the business full-time. Now, with the help of Tom Partridge, Burt’s Cheese makes three cheeses as well as running sell-out cheesemaking workshops.

HS Bourne: The Bourne family have been hand making Cheshire cheese since 1750, and since 1930 at the The Bank farm in Malpas. They continue to make a selection of Cheshire cheeses, ranging from traditional to flavoured. In keeping with traditional Cheshire cheese, they are the only producers left of the once famous Blue Cheshire. Hugo & Charlotte, the next generation of Bournes, will be ready to share their wonderful cheeses with you.

Moyden’s Cheese was established in 2005 by Martin Moyden. He was inspired by his grandmother’s tales of farming and traditional ways of cheesemaking. Now joined by wife Beth, they are on a mission to keep artisan cheesemaking going, with their seven best-selling cheeses, including Newport and Wrekin Blue.

Bidlea Dairy: The Brown family have been dairy farming at Bidlea for over 60 years, spanning three generations. Their reputation of their Holstein Friesian cows has seen them win both national and European awards. They are famed locally for their fresh milk and dairy products, including an ever-growing range of mouth-watering ice-creams.
